Job Description:

ASI is now accepting applications for the 2018 season. The interview process will begin around mid-February.

A screed operator has the control on the free-floating screed which is attached to the paver vehicle to control the quantity and consistency of asphalt that is deposited; estimating overall quantity for the project as well as the quantity needed to achieve the correct grade in the finished surface.

Experience and Skills:

-Operate and monitor paver and screed, including checking for loose parts and ensuring proper working order of machinery.

-Assist with shoveling and cleanup of screed and paving machine.

-Responsible for the efficient and working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance, as well as alerting the mechanic of any significant problems.

-Calculate yield.

-Understand adjustments and settings so necessary changes can be made if needed to produce a quality mat finish.

-Adjust screed to get road profile and blemish free mat.

-Maintain proper head of material.

-Assist in job layout and have a thorough understanding of how the job is being paved.

-Work with Paver Operator to maintain consistent head of material and adjust as needed.

-Assist in setting auger speed and feed control sensor for paving screed.

-May be Crew Leader if designated and responsible for making independent decisions when the foreman is not present.

-Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested.

Qualifications:

-2 or more years of Screed Operator experience.

-Must have the ability to operate and maintain Screed Machines with little or no supervision.

-Effective communication with other operators, truck drivers, and the general public is critical.

-Have knowledge of slope and grade controls.

-Must demonstrate excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.

-Follow the dress code and compliance of proper PPE at all times.

-Must be available to work on Saturday and Sunday.

-Must have reliable transportation.
